We Did It!

Dear Friends,

Well, if you didn't hear us yelling it from the ankle-deep waters of our kiddie pools, then let me be the first to tell you, WE DID IT!  We exceeded our goal of raising 24K in 30 days.  With your generous support,  "Turf Valley" will come to life this summer and for this, we are profoundly grateful.

You might find some of the numbers interesting, by the way.  The Kickstarter pitch video itself was viewed more than 1500 times, we’ve logged 2600 visitors to our Facebook page and have garnered more than 300 new followers of the "Turf Valley" show.  Most of our audience comes from the US, but not all.  Many of you are Mac users.  Some of you are flexitarian.  And at least three of you expressed an interest in visiting Mars in your lifetime.

The goal of this Kickstarter campaign for the "Turf Valley" show was to complete the financing for episodes 4,5 & 6 and by golly we got 'er done.  But along with that, we wanted to use this platform to engage our audience, and to see whether "Turf Valley" would have wide appeal. We'll take our success yesterday as a resounding “Yes." So don't worry, we are already hand-crafting the cups, t-shirts, posters and footballs so that they get to you in a timely manner.

That said, the campaign continues.  We still have 8 days and will continue to keep the pledge-doors open.  It's what they call a "Stretch Goal" in the biz, and what our grandparents called a “cushion." And while we don't have a specific number in mind, please know that every dollar given will go towards the following items:

  • Cooling centers for our cast and crew (Maryland summers — oy!)

  • A “pick-up” 1/2 day for any footage we can't capture during the 6 days of scheduled production, due to weather

  • A bigger budget for student department heads Aidan and Maya for props and wardrobe

And if we make it past 30K then we may add an additional 1/2 day of shooting so that episode 7 — our season finale with the big musical number — can go on a little longer than the regular episode length.

So please continue to share the campaign with new friends.  At this point, we'll be watching the number of backers much more closely than the amount of money.

Building the biggest, most devoted audience possible for our show is priority number one.  You're the client and we aim to make a great show for all of you.  You deserve it.
